LODGE EXPERIENCES

Those wanting to experience the natural surroundings
can partake in a variety of activities such as kayaking
on the Mossman River to snorkeling on the reef or
exploring the rainforests.

The more adventurous can try tandem skydiving,
horse riding along the beach, hang gliding
or early morning hot air ballooning.

Below are suggestions to assist you plan your stay at
the Lodge with our focus that you have a personalized
and unique experience exploring all that is on offer at the Lodge.

COMPLIMENTARY ACTIVITIES

Included in your Silky Oaks Lodge accommodation there are a variety of activities on offer depending on your mood or energy levels.

  • Self-Guided Walks

    Silky Oaks Lodge has two walking trails with maps that are available from reception that indicate the level of difficulty of each walking trail. Please let reception know before your departure time. There is a field guide available for the marked Figtree Rapids trail and it is available at  reception. The mountain trail crosses several rocky streams and may be slippery in wet weather and suitable footwear is advise.
  • Scheduled guided Daintree discovery walks

    Guided Daintree discovery walks are conducted from the grounds of the Lodge into the Daintree National Park. Please contact reception for further details.
  • Yoga

    Scheduled yoga classes are held in the Pavilion on selected days.  Prior bookings are advised.
  • Kayaking/Canoeing/Snorkeling

    The canoe and kayak are located in front of the Lodge near the main billabong. Please do stay within the area of the main river close to the Lodge Avoid shooting the rapids as there is no possibility of returning upstream against the current. Please wear a life jacket at all times Snorkeling equipment is located at reception.
  • DVD hire

    A selection of DVDs are kept at reception.
  • Tennis

    Tennis rackets/balls are located to the left of the area outside reception.  For evening tennis there is a light switch outside near the gym area.
  • Mountain bikes

    Bicycles are located in the area near the Porter’s Shed.  Cycle to Mossman Gorge or head down Syndicate Road towards Mialo and take in the Far North Queensland landscape.  Be sure to take plenty of water with you, wear a helmet and inform reception of your route.  Should you run out of steam then please do contact reception and we will collect you and your bike for an easy ride back to the Lodge.
  • Picnic Sites

    Take a picnic hamper and visit one of our picnic spots along the Mossman river or on the Figtree Rapids/Mountain trails.

    An interesting tour that incorporates a one hour crocodile and wildlife spotting cruise followed by a visit to the Daintree Wild Zoo a privately owned wildlife park A fun tour with lots of opportunities to photograph the wildlife.
  • Lodge Guided Adventure Hike (4 hours return)

    We walk through the original ancient aboriginal track with its' many hidden wonders. Rock hop across the Mossman River. Explore with our naturalist guide and let them help you understand what makes the Daintree Rainforest a very special experience.
