Suggested Itinerary for 3 nights/2 days at Silky Oaks Lodge

ARRIVAL

2:00pm
Check in at Silky Oaks Lodge is from 2:00pm onwards. On arrival, make your way down to Reception where we will start the check in process. While on a brief tour of the Lodge, our Porter will make you a reservation for dinner in our stunning Treehouse Restaurant. Continuing on the tour of the Lodge, the Porter will collect your luggage and take you on to your room in our eco-friendly electric cart, where you will be spending the next three nights!

3:00pm
If you’ve just arrived off a flight and come directly to Silky Oaks Lodge, you probably need to get out and stretch your legs for awhile! This would be the perfect time to grab a swimming towel from either the Pool area or from Reception and head down to the Mossman River. This section of the Mossman River is one of the few areas in Tropical North Queensland that is crocodile free so it makes for a perfect escape from the heat and humidity over the summer months.

4:00pm
After working up an appetite swimming, why not grab a bite to eat from the Afternoon Tea menu, served from the bar from 2:30 – 5:00pm? Sitting in the Jungle Perch, you can relax and enjoy the rainforest views – part of the pristine Daintree National Park.

6:00pm
Now would be the perfect opportunity to spend some time with that special someone. All our Deluxe Treehouses and Premium Riverhouses feature two person spa bathes. Light some candles, dim the lights and let your cares melt away.

Dining in the open-sided Treehouse Restaurant is a must while visiting the Daintree/Port Douglas region. Our menu blends the finest local ingredients with some of Australia’s spectacular wines in a contemporary cuisine with Asian influences.

DAY 1

7:00am
Wake up with nature! Surrounded as the resort is by the Daintree National Park, there is an abundance of wildlife that will be greeting the new day in paradise!

7:30am
Breakfast in the Treehouse Restaurant is a sumptuous affair. With the choice of a hot menu as well as a continental breakfast, it’s a great start to your holiday. Need a helping hand waking up in the morning? We have Daintree Tea (grown in the rainforest just north of Silky Oaks Lodge), coffee grown on the Atherton Tablelands just to the west of the Port Douglas region as well as Italian coffee, herbal teas and hot chocolate.

8:20am
We’re off to Cape Tribulation in the heart of the Daintree National Park on our Silky Oaks Lodge Safari. On the tour today, you will walk through the Daintree Rainforest which has changed little in the past 110 million years. A barbeque lunch is served beside Myall Creek where you have the opportunity to take quick dip in the water before heading back to the Daintree River. Cruising in a solar powered boat is not only environmentally responsible, but it’s a great way to get up close to the kings of the river, the Estuarine Crocodile (commonly known as a “salty”). You will not only see crocodiles on the Daintree River, but also a myriad of birds, frogs, snakes and other animals that call this area home.

Included as part of your trip to Cape Tribulation is afternoon tea. It’s a perfect opportunity to chat with your travelling companions, have a look over the photo’s you’ve taken and enjoy a tea of coffee as well as biscuits, scones and a comfortable chair.

7:30pm
On your way to dinner tonight, stop past Reception and pickup a picnic hamper form for tomorrow. With a selection of either Sandwiches, Mediterranean baguettes or a selection of seafood, there is something for everyone!

DAY 2

8:30am
After a long day exploring the Daintree/Cape Tribulation area, you’re probably looking forward to a slower day today. Time to enjoy a bit of a sleep-in!

9:00am
Over breakfast today, it’s time to plan your day. After your coffee, you can see one of the staff members to pick up your picnic hamper and head out and up to Figtree Rapids.

10:30am
At a leisurely pace, Figtree Rapids is a 2 hour return trip. Make sure to take your camera, swimmers and a swimming towel so you can take a quick dip in the river before setting up your picnic in the middle of the rainforest. Where else but paradise?

1:30pm
After returning from the rainforest, its time to just sit back and relax. Why not grab a book from the library near the Treehouse Bar, hop in the hammock and enjoy the afternoon at your leisure.

DAY 3

We leave this day up to you. As check out is 11:00am, you can either wake up with the birds to squeeze in a few more hours beside the pool, or sleep-in and have a quick breakfast before heading out to your next destination. Whatever your day holds, we hope that you’ve enjoyed your time with us here at Silky Oaks Lodge, and we hope to see you again.

As 2 days 3 nights, but on the 3rd day we suggest the following:

DAY 3

7:00am
It’s an early start, but the breakfast beside the Mossman River and the trip to the Great Barrier Reef are well worth it!

8:30am
There are plenty of tour operators who will take you to the Outer Reef. Operators include Quicksilver, Synergy and Wavelength. Want to spend some time on a beach as well? Choose from any tour that visits the pristine Low Isles. Most companies will pick you up from Silky Oaks and all include a buffet style lunch.

5:00am
After returning back to Silky Oaks Lodge, we leave it up to you now to decide what to do for your last evening. You might want to dine in Port Douglas, or just get a light meal from the Restaurant and spend your last evening in the bath.
